The Ondo State Government has extended the enforcement of the compulsory installation of close circuit television devices in all public spaces in the State.
This was made known by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu through his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, on Tuesday.
According to him, the extension comes in response to requests made by mosques, churches, and other public institutions so that they may implement the essential procedures as outlined in the State Executive Order.
Remember that on June 22, 2022, Governor Akeredolu issued an Executive Order requiring all owners, occupants, managers, and operators of public and private institutions in Ondo State to install, use, and maintain CCTV devices and other covert cameras to keep an eye on daily activities on their property.
The Executive Order will be enforced by all state security services starting on September 1, 2022, thanks to the one-month extension.
As disclosed, violators shall be prosecuted in accordance with Section 203 of the Criminal Code (Cap. 37) Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria.
