The Ondo governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has declared has declared Thursday, 22nd and Friday, 23rd of February 2024 as public holidays in the State.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary of the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan on Tuesday said the declaration is honour of the former Governor of the State, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.
The statement adds that the two days holiday are die residents to participate in the burial process.
The statement reads in part, “Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared Thursday, 22nd and Friday, 23rd of February 2024 as public holidays in the State.
“This is in honour of the former Governor of the State, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.
“The two work-free days will allow the people of the State to participate in the burial activities of the former Governor.”
The burial activities, which started last Thursday, will climax on Friday 23, 2024.
He would be buried in his hometown Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Akeredolu died on December 27 after a protracted illness with prostate cancer in a Germany hospital.
