Two Nigerian airlines, Air Peace and Aero Contractors, provided compensation to a total of 1,921 passengers for various service disruptions in November 2024.
These included flight delays, cancellations, and cabin class downgrades.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority revealed this in a statement shared on X on Monday, signed by its Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu.
Air Peace accounted for the majority of the compensations, resolving issues with 1,901 passengers, while Aero Contractors addressed concerns for 20 passengers.
According to the NCAA, most compensations stemmed from business class downgrades, with affected passengers receiving a 65 percent discount on their tickets.
“Air Peace also compensated passengers for issues such as unscheduled maintenance, technical problems, operational challenges, aircraft swaps, and short-landed baggage,” the statement read.
On November 16, 2024, the agency reported that Air Peace recorded its highest passenger traffic of the month on flight 7170 from Lagos to Benin City, carrying 129 passengers.
Following operational disruptions, the airline implemented a 25 percent discount as compensation for affected travelers.
The NCAA further disclosed that on December 24, 2024, it initiated enforcement actions against five airlines—two international and three domestic operators—for breaching regulatory requirements.
