Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has extended a generous financial grant to a yet-to-be-identified woman who sought assistance to grow her business.
In a touching moment captured on video and shared online, the woman approached the governor in tears, expressing her struggles with operating a dry food production business from her home due to the lack of a shop.
She explained that she produces cassava fufu powder and banana-based products but needed support to expand.
During their interaction, Governor Eno, visibly impressed by her determination, inquired, “And you are the one that produced these?” She confirmed, presenting samples of her products along with her credentials.
When asked how much she required, she requested ₦2 million.
However, in a remarkable show of generosity, the governor went beyond her expectations, instructing the Commissioner for Trade and Investment to assess her business and provide substantial support.
“Take her number, go and see what she is doing. Help me set her up with equipment. When you set her up, give her ₦3 million for equipment and ₦2 million for her business,” Governor Eno directed.
Overwhelmed by his kindness, the woman broke down in tears, grateful for the ₦5 million boost that would undoubtedly transform her business.
This initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to empowering small-scale entrepreneurs, particularly women, as part of its broader economic development strategy.
Governor Eno, through his administration’s “Golden Era” agenda, continues to emphasize the importance of supporting local businesses to drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of Akwa Ibom citizens.
