The Confederation of African Football has celebrated Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman following his outstanding performance in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Lookman played a pivotal role in the match, scoring twice to help secure a dominant win for Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.
His commanding display earned him the Man of the Match award as he led Augustine Eguavoen’s team to an important triumph against former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr’s side.
Nigeria’s attacking prowess was further boosted by star striker Victor Osimhen, who added to the scoreline with a well-taken goal, sealing the comprehensive win for the Super Eagles.
CAF, recognizing Lookman’s brilliant week, took to their official X account to share a photo of the Atalanta forward with the caption: “What a week Ademola Lookman is having.”
This glowing recognition from CAF came just days after Lookman was shortlisted for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, making the list of the top 30 players in the world ahead of Nigeria’s clash with Benin Republic.
The talented forward continues to make waves both on the international stage and at club level.
Rwanda is also part of AFCON Qualification Group D, setting the stage for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying return against them at Stade Amahoro on Monday, March 17.
This match will mark the third encounter between the two nations within six months.
