At least four teams have booked their spots in the quarter-final games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.
This follows the completion of the four Round of 16 matches on Sunday.
In the first game, Guinea beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 to progress to the quarter-finals.
Federico Bikoro was sent off in the 55th minute of the game, ensuring that Equatorial Guinea, who finished top of Group A, played for most of the game with 10 men.
However, they held firm until the last moments of regulation time, when Mohamed Bayo headed in the winner.
Guinea will now play Congo DR in the last eight.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Angola in the following round.
On Friday, February 2, 2024, at 6 p.m., Nigeria will take on the Giant Sable Antelope in the AFCON 2023 Quarterfinals at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
In a thrilling encounter, Super Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon decisively thanks to two goals by Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman.
In addition, the Super Eagles are still undefeated in the competition.
Notably, Angola has advanced to the tournament’s final eight for the very first time since their 2008 semifinal performance.
On Friday, the team humbled Namibia 3-0, with Jacinto Dala contributing to each of the three goals.
It took penalties shoot-out for the Congolese to see off Egypt, after their game ended 1-1 at the regulation time.

In the group stages, the initial 24 teams in the tournament were reduced to the final 16. The 16 will now be trimmed to eight teams who will be contesting the most prized African football championship.
