The National Assembly and two Committees on Sports will visit Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to cheer the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This was made known by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Kawu Sumaila, during a chat with newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
Nigeria’s side defeated the Indomitable lions of Cameroon during the round of 16 to qualify for the quarter finals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.
Sumaila noted that apart from the principal officers, the National Assembly joint Committees on Sports will also travel to Abidjan to support the Super Eagles.
“I am happy with the performance of the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
“The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter finals with Angola,” Sumaila said.
On the fate of the coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, the lawmaker pointed out that “we will look at it after the competition, am sure of victory for the Super Eagles against Angola”.
The Super Eagles will face the Palancas Negras of Angola on Friday, February 2 in a crucial quarter-finals clash.
