Iconic Cameroon goalkeeper, Joseph-Antoine Bell, has hoped that the Indomitable Lions will match up with standard when they face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the round of 16 of 2023 the African Cup of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.
Bell expressed this hope while speaking with former Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye, admitting that the Indomitable Lions have not been impressive.
Both giants of African football will clash in the round of 16 on Saturday.
Cameroon had to rely on a stoppage time goal against Gambia to secure qualification into the knockout round.
The five-time AFCON winners went into the clash against Gambia with just one point, following defeat to Senegal and a draw against 10-man Guinea.
Super Eagles sealed their place in the round of 16 thanks to a hard fought 1-0 win against Guinea-Bissau in their final Group A game.
Speaking ahead of the big encounter Bell, two-time AFCON winner said, “We are going to witness a good game and the best team would win.”
“I hope Cameroon would improve it’s game because what we’ve seen so far has not been good.
“Of course they qualified but you cannot compare both teams and I hope Cameroon will match up to standard.“ the 1984 and 1988 AFCON winner added.
In the last meeting between both teams at the AFCON 2019 the Eagles won 3-2.
