Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to address boundary dispute between his state and Oyon State, noting peace must be embraced pending an amicable resolution of the contention
Adeleke stated this while receiving officials of the National Boundary Commission, Abuja, led by Oluwafemi Oshinaike on Wednesday in Osogbo.
He equally condemned reports of attempts at altering of already established facts on the Oyo/Osun boundary.
Adeleke, represented by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, appreciated the visit as timely and commendable.
He said, “My administration is committed to addressing the development and in doing so, we will not leave any stone unturned.
“All necessary arrangements are on a daily basis, being put in place to checkmate what could have led to lawlessness leading to the breakdown of law and order.”
Also, on a visit to the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Oshinaike gave the assurance that the NBC was committed to finding lasting solutions to all the communities in disputes over boundary matters.
Speaking, Oba Akanbi commended all the series of efforts put in place by the Adeleke administration to stem the tide of the aggravation of the crisis, which the monarch said would have been unfortunate and devastating.
“I implore the NBC officials to put in place necessary peace modalities with a view to complimenting the ones already put in place by the administration of Ademola Adeleke,” he said.
Reports revealed that tension has flared up once again in Ogburo, Papa, Ogun Ajo, Paku, Ejemu, Eleye, Olola and other communities in Iwo Local Government Area of the state which shares a common boundary with Oyo State.
