Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, urged National Youth Service Corps members to uphold unity and patriotism as well as selfless service in their deployments.
He delivered this message during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream II orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State on Tuesday.
Adeleke emphasized the importance of corps members viewing themselves as ambassadors of Nigeria and advised them to use their service year to acquire new skills for personal growth and the nation’s development.
He said,“I urge you to uphold the ideals of the NYSC scheme – unity, patriotism and selfless service.
“You are not just ambassadors of your respective states or regions but ambassadors of Nigeria as a whole. Embrace diversity, foster inclusivity and strive to make a positive impact wherever you are deployed.”
The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, had earlier called on the corps members to carry forward the values of discipline, integrity and selflessness learnt during the. orientation course.
He said, “Ensure you discharge your duties at your places of primary assignments with utmost sense of dirty and be committed to the ethics of the organisation you are posted to.
“I implore you to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead with an open mind and spirit of innovation. Let your service be driven by a passion for national development and a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of the people you serve.”
Obim reminded the corps members that the skills they acquired in camp will empower them to become self reliant and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
