Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the payment of 734 pensioners who left their jobs as teachers and local government employees in Osun State under the previous pension plan.
The recipients were instructed to appear in person for payment and documentation in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, Mr. Akibu Ibrahim, on Friday.
“This is to tell the public that the governor, Ademola Adeleke, has authorised over half a billion naira for 734 pensioners who are retirees under the previous pension scheme, including Local Government Staff and Primary School Teachers.
“In light of this, the affected pensioners who have a balance with the state government of less than 500,000 naira are to visit the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau for proper documentation and payment,” the statement continued.
The statement provided assurance that Adeleke’s administration would continue to commit to paying out all unpaid wages and pensions owed to pensioners in the state as it recalled Adeleke’s pledge to treat the welfare of the Osun people with seriousness.
