Addidas have maintained that there have been no formal deliberations with Manchester United pertaining to the status of Mason Greenwood within the club’s roster of players.
Greenwood aged 21, has been subject to a club suspension subsequent to his arrest in January 2022 on allegations of rape, assault, sexual assault, and threats to cause harm.
According to a report by the Daily Star, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against him in February of this year. Subsequently, United initiated an internal review to determine his future at the club, which remains ongoing.
The German apparel company Addidas has now reacted to a report in The Sun that stated they had authorised his probable return to Erik ten Hag’s first team.
An Addidas spokesperson said: “After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media it’s important for us to clarify that Adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad.
“We play no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team or staff at the club.”
