Ten hunters in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have been arraigned before a court for allegedly killing a man, identified as Danlami Kaura, and setting the corpse ablaze.
The hunters allegedly inflicted cuts on Kaura and after he was rushed to the hospital, went to the hospital, took him out to a nearby bush, killed him, and set fire to his body.
They include their chairman Abubakar Hamman, 48; Musa Mohammed, 38; Ibrahim NEPA, 35; Musa Ibrahim, 21; Ibrahim Jibrilla, 40; Abdullahi Siniya, 31 and Yusuf Buba, 39.
Hamman and six others were charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide punishable with death, while the remaining defendants including Usman Nabari (aka Usman Manaja) 45; Abdullahi Sabitu, 27; Aminu Yahaya, 25 (at large) and Solomon Nabari, 25, were charged alongside seven other defendants for alleged criminal intimidation and inciting disturbance.
The prosecuting counsel alleged that the chairman of the special hunters group and six others caused the death of Danlami Kaura on the 28th May 2022.
They are all facing trial before Justice Danladi Mohammed of Adamawa State High Court, who has adjourned the case to the 29th of November 2022 for a continuation of the hearing.
