AC Milan is on the verge of unveiling Paulo Fonseca as their new manager, with reports suggesting that documents were signed last week.
Football transfer authority Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news through his X handle, stating that the Rossoneri have reached a complete agreement with Fonseca, who previously managed Lille, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Porto.
The only remaining step before the official announcement is finalizing contracts with Fonseca’s coaching staff.
“AC Milan are set to confirm Paulo Fonseca as new head coach, all documents were signed last week. His staff members will sign today then time for club announcement.
“Contract until June 2026 on €2.5m initial salary with option to extend. Here we go, confirmed,” Romano wrote.
Fonseca will replace Stefano Pioli as the head coach of Milan.
Last season, Milan finished in second place in Serie A.
The 2024–25 season marks AC Milan’s 126th year in existence and their 91st in Italy’s top football division.
This season, the Rossoneri will compete not only in Serie A but also in the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa Italiana, and the UEFA Champions League.
Throughout their storied history, AC Milan has claimed the Scudetto 19 times, lifted the Coppa Italia on five occasions, and secured the Supercoppa Italiana seven times.
On the European stage, they’ve triumphed in the European Cup seven times, the Cup Winners’ Cup twice, and hold a record five victories in the European Super Cup.
