Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested suspected notorious kidnappers, identified as Buhari Muhammad, and five other members of the syndicate in Abuja.
This was made known in statement issued on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, noting that the suspects were arrested in a hotel in Bassa village in the nation’s capital.
Adeh said that five other suspects include a wanted kidnapping kingpin, Muhammad Sabiu, Isah Abdullahi, Hamzat Musa, Fatima Abdullahi, and Zuliat Yusuf were also apprehended.
She revealed that the notorious kidnapping syndicate was responsible for the abduction of Joshua Eze, the husband of Blessing Eze, who suffered a bullet injury in the process of her husband’s abduction.
Joshua was kidnapped on January 27, 2024, but was rescued unhurt by Police operatives of the command after 24 hours
The police spokesperson maintained that the arrest was made by the command’s operatives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, dedicated to the fight against criminality in the territory.
Items recovered from the suspect include AK-47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, a cash sum of N345,000, and other valuables were recovered from the suspects.
The statement read in part,, “One AK47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, cash sum of three hundred and forty-five thousand naira and some other valuables were recovered from the suspects who have since confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the Territory.
“While investigation is still ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, wishes to assure members of the public of his commitment to rid FCT of criminality in all its manifestations.

The CP, upon his appointment on January 31, unveiled a four-point agenda to root out all forms of crime and perpetrators of crime in the capital territory.
He said, “If you are a bandit, kidnapper, an armed robber, killer, whatever high crime you are committing, No. 1. We have a four-point agenda, it is either you shoot me, you shoot us, or you shoot me. I do not have fear about it.
“The second movement is that we will arrest you and you will be in prison. The third one is that your movement will be in my cell. The fourth one that you have every opportunity to act upon, is that you should be on the run.”
