The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has paid a condolence visit to the Lagos residence of the former Chief of General Staff and Military Governor of Ogun, General Oladipo Diya, stating that the late military top notch would be given a state burial by the stat
Abiodun said the former CGS death is a great loss to Ogun in particular and the country in general, adding late Diya had impacted many lives as an exemplary leader.
Recall that the death of the former CGS was announced by the family in the early hours of Sunday, March 26, 2023. He died at 78.
The Governor who led a delegation from the state consisting of members of the State Executive Council, said, “General Diya was a man of many parts. His life epitomized integrity and character. He was a soldier and gentleman, a lawyer with an eventful career. He rose to the peak of his career as the Chief of General Staff.”
While commenting on his achievements, Abiodun pointed out that he held many command and administrative positions while in the military and continued to positively affect lives after retirement from active service.
He affirmed his immense contribution to the growth and development of his community, especially in the Odogbolu Local Government Area, noting that the history of Ogun State would not be complete without the mention of his name.
While calling on the family members not to grieve over his death as he impacted his generation and has gone home to rest with his Lord, he then prayed for the reposed of the soul of the deceased
The Governor declared that a committee consisting of some State Executive Council members would be consistuted to partner with the family to give the former military governor of the state a befitting burial.
One of the sons of the late General Diya, Oyedamola, in his response on behalf of the family, hailed the governor for his care and concerns to the family at this trying time through the visit, stating that his father while alive, had commended the present administration for its good works.
