A tricycle operator, identified as Chigozie, has been apprehended for the murder of his girlfriend and disposing of her body in a bush in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to Daily Post, Chigozie, a resident of Ajata Ibeku, allegedly committed the crime on Wednesday but was apprehended by vigilant villagers.
Chigozie was accused of engaging in a physical altercation with his unidentified girlfriend, resulting in her accidental fall and subsequent fatal head injury.
Another villager alleged that Chigozie engaged in an extended sexual encounter with his girlfriend, resulting in her unfortunate demise.
A villager named Nze claimed that the suspect was apprehended by youths after he dumped his girlfriend’s body in a trash can and made an attempt at fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, the police have been given the suspect and his dead girlfriend’s body has been taken to an unnamed mortuary.
As of the time of this report, the police department’s public relations officer, Chioma Maureen Chinaka has not commented on the situation.
