Three months after the disclosure of an illicit off-screen affair, TV hosts, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach have been fired by the ABC network when executives finally decided on their future.
Although the network executives said many productive meetings were held with the TV anchors, they were still unable to come to an agreement regarding their roles at Good Morning America and GMA afternoon show.
The partners of the respective host allegedly accused them of having an affair after which Holmes formally filed for divorce in January.
All network employees received an email on Friday night informing them that the two had been fired from the organization.
An email sent to all staff at the network detailing the bosses decision on Friday night, read; “I want to share with you that we’ve reached a decision about T.J. and Amy.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.’
The email also stated how decisions will be made later on who will co-anchor GMA3 and 20/20.
“I know that this has been a distraction for so many of us, but let’s not forget all the great work that continues to make ABC News the #1 news network in America, and that’s because of you. I want to thank you again for your patience and professionalism during this time.” the email stated.
The ABC bosses had accused 49-year-old Robach, and Holmes, 45, of improperly handling their relationship and waiting too long to tell executives about it.
According to sources, the network believed their “behavior on set” was “uncomfortable” for the ABC personnel.
An “extremely contentious” mediation that lasted all night Thursday and into Friday morning resulted in an exit agreement between T.J. and Amy.
Compensation packages were however, granted to them both.
Meanwhile, Robach was accused of possessing alcohol in her changing area by ABC. Some of the bottles were gifts from the ABC executives to her.
After attending the National College Football Championship game, she was also charged with being intoxicated at work.
