Abia State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, for allegedly possessing illegal firearms.
The suspect, identified as Chidozie Humble, is a 300-level student in the Department of Animal Breeding and Physiology.
He was apprehended on March 5, 2025, by detectives from the Serious Crime Investigation Squad at his residence in Royal Heritage Lodge, Umudike, Ikwuano Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the arrest and the recovery of weapons from the suspect.
“During the operation, officers recovered three locally made pistols and one English CZECH SCORPION pistol,” Chinaka stated.
She emphasized the command’s determination to tackle crime in the state, assuring the public of their continued efforts to maintain security.
“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation to identify and apprehend his accomplices,” she added.
