Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced that 59 kidnapped victims who were recently rescued through collaborative efforts between the Kaduna State Government, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and security agencies have been certified medically and psychologically fit to return home.
The governor shared this update on his verified Facebook page on Monday, describing the emotional moment as he bid farewell to the victims at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House.
“Emotions were at their peak as I bade farewell to the 59 kidnap victims that were recently released through the joint efforts of the Kaduna State Government, Office of the National Security Adviser, and Security Agencies,” Sani stated.
According to him, the victims received medical attention and psychosocial therapy for ten days at the Kaduna State Shelter Home before being declared fit to reunite with their families.
“After 10 days of intensive care and monitoring, they were certified medically and psychologically fit to return to their families and carry out their normal activities,” he added.
Recognizing the resilience of the victims, the governor assured them of government support, including financial assistance and tools to help them rebuild their lives.
“The victims gave strong assurances that they will put the terrible experience behind them and focus on their families and businesses. In appreciation of their courage and resilience, as well as their firm determination to pursue their businesses despite the horrible experience, the State Government will support them with start-up funds and tools that will help them start life afresh,” Sani said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing security in the state, stressing that efforts would continue to sustain peace and safeguard residents.
“The Kaduna State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property. We shall continue to do all that is necessary to sustain the prevailing peace and security in Kaduna State,” he assured.
Sani also highlighted the effectiveness of the state’s Peace Model, which he described as a significant approach to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
“Our Peace Model has been hailed as an innovative, result-oriented, and sustainable path to peacebuilding and conflict transformation. We shall continue along this noble path despite the machinations of individuals whose stock in trade is to play politics with security,” he stated.
