Arsenal midfielder, Kai Havertz, picked up an injury during the team’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Havertz is believed to have sustained what is suspected to be a muscular problem during a training session on Monday.
The team trained again on Tuesday before flying back to London later that day.
Arsenal’s medical staff will evaluate Havertz over the coming days ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester on Saturday.
Manager Mikel Arteta is expected to provide an update on Havertz’s condition during his press conference on Friday morning.
Should the German international face a spell on the sidelines, it would be a significant setback for Arsenal, who are already grappling with a growing injury list in attack.
Gabriel Jesus is ruled out for the rest of the season following knee surgery, while Bukayo Saka is not expected to return until next month after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury in December.
Gabriel Martinelli has also reportedly been sidelined for at least four weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained in last week’s defeat to Newcastle.
If Havertz is unavailable, Arsenal will be left with limited options in attack, relying on just three fit forwards — Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard, and Raheem Sterling.
The Gunners had hoped to strengthen their frontline during the January transfer window and identified Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins as a target.
However, negotiations failed to yield a deal, leaving Arsenal without additional attacking reinforcements before the window closed.
The team’s trip to Dubai, which lasted six days, served as preparation ahead of their return to competitive action this weekend.
