American rapper and record producer, Kanye West, now known as Ye, no longer has an account on Elon Musk’s platform, X, following a shocking 4-day-long social media rant filled with racist, antisemitic, misogynistic, and aporophobic remarks.
It remains uncertain whether the account was deleted by West himself or if it was removed by X after a wave of public outrage.
Before his exit, West left a parting message, “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. To [sic] we connect again. Good afternoon and good night,” the rapper, 47, signed off.
West’s departure coincided with Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, where Kendrick Lamar performed during halftime while Taylor Swift cheered on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Swift, who appeared on the Jumbotron, was met with boos from Philadelphia Eagles fans at one point, a moment that quickly went viral.
The “Vultures” rapper seized the opportunity to take a jab at Swift during Kendrick’s halftime show, posting on X, “IF IT’S ABOUT THE CULTURE… WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE.”
West then extended his criticism to Kendrick Lamar and the entertainment industry at large, writing, “KENDRICK IS BEING USED BY THESE WHITE PEOPLE AND JEWS AND SO AM I.” He added, “AS I TWEET IN CODE WORDS AD KISS ELON’S ASS AND BEG HIM TO NOT CANCEL MY ACCOUNT,” revealing his desperation to maintain his controversial presence on social media.
Shortly after, West’s account was wiped clean, with a message stating, “This account doesn’t exist.”
The incident came after a dramatic appearance at the Grammy Awards red carpet with his wife, Bianca Censori, who stunned onlookers by removing her fur coat to reveal a sheer, barely-there minidress.
West later disclosed during an interview that he was recently diagnosed with autism after initially being misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, explaining that he had since stopped taking his bipolar medication.
Not long after the interview, he returned to X with a series of increasingly disturbing posts, declaring support for Sean “Diddy” Combs and Chris Brown—both of whom have faced sexual abuse allegations, with Combs currently incarcerated.
The posts escalated, with West praising Adolf Hitler and writing, “Hitler was sooooo fresh,” followed by a string of anti-Semitic statements. “I’m racist—stereotypes exist for a reason and they all be true,” he wrote. “Some of my best friends are Jewish and I don’t trust any of them.” He continued, “I’m a Nazi. I love Hitler,” before retracting a previous apology to the Jewish community and doubling down on his offensive rhetoric.
At one point, West even called Musk “the most lit person that [has] ever been on Twitter,” adding that the Tesla CEO “stole my Nazi swag.”
His tirade culminated in a series of explicit posts, where he expressed his love for pornography and shared multiple pornographic videos on the platform, taking full advantage of X’s relaxed policy on adult content.
Whether it was West’s decision or the platform’s intervention, his presence on X ended abruptl, leaving a disturbing trail of controversy in his wake.
