Nigerian international, Akor Adams, marked his first appearance for Sevilla, coming on as a substitute in their 0-0 draw against Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Saturday.
Getafe entered the fixture on a strong run, unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions.
Their recent results included an impressive 3-0 away victory over Real Sociedad and a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Barcelona.
On the other hand, Sevilla aimed to turn their form around, having managed just one win in their previous five outings.
Sevilla’s head coach, Garcia Pimienta, opted to ease Adams into the squad, choosing Isaac Romero to lead the attack from the start.
Despite Sevilla dominating possession in the first half, they struggled to convert their control into tangible threats, managing just one shot on target before the break.
Momentum shifted slightly in the second half as Getafe began to impose themselves, but both teams continued to lack a cutting edge in the final third.
The match saw a dip in attacking output, with neither side registering a shot on target after halftime.
In an attempt to break the deadlock, Pimienta introduced Chidera Ejuke in the 76th minute before giving Adams his debut five minutes later.
However, the late substitutions failed to influence the outcome, as the match ended goalless.
With the draw, Getafe extended their unbeaten streak to six matches, sitting 14th in the table with 24 points from 22 games.
Sevilla, meanwhile, moved up to 11th place with 28 points from the same number of matches.
Next up, Sevilla brace for a challenging home encounter against Barcelona on Sunday, February 9, while Getafe travel to face Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, February 4, hoping to continue their solid run.
