Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Vitor Reis from Palmeiras, with the 19-year-old Brazil youth international joining the Premier League champions in a deal worth €35 million, $36.2m.
Reis has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.
Reis becomes City’s second addition of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens, which was confirmed on Monday.
Expressing his delight at joining the club, Reis said, “I’m excited to join Manchester City, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Everyone has seen the amazing achievements in recent seasons, and I want to make my mark as we seek more trophies.
“Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me to develop into the best player I can be. City also have a lot of experience of working with Brazilian footballers and joining the likes of Ederson and Savinho in the squad will be a big help to me.”
Reis is expected to be joined at City by Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, with the Egyptian international set to make the switch to Manchester in a deal reportedly worth €75 million ($77.6m), potentially rising to €80 million ($82.6m) with performance-related bonuses.
Marmoush arrived in the city on Monday to undergo his medical, with an official announcement expected soon.
In the meantime, City captain Kyle Walker is close to finalizing a loan move to Serie A side AC Milan. The deal could lead to a permanent transfer next summer.
As the transfer window enters its final stages, City are also exploring options for a central midfielder, with Douglas Luiz, who joined Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, among the players being monitored.
