Super Falcons defeated the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0 in the quarter-final of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Cameroonians forced Randy Waldrum’s women to a goalless first half at the Stade Mohammed V Stadium as they went head to head for a ticket into the semis and a World Cup qualification at stake.
However, it was Rasheedat Ajibade’s 56th-minute goal that fired the Nigerians into the semifinals of the tournament where they will face hosts, Morocco, in the last four on July 18.
The Falcons also secured a spot in the 2023 Women’s World Cup holding in Australia and New Zealand; a record ninth consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance for the African Champions.
