An elderly woman has been rescued by operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency on Sunday after she was trapped in a building due to the flood that ravaged some parts of Lagos on Saturday.
The woman, name-unknow, was trapped in her apartment located on Yusuf street Oluwaga Bus-stop inward the Ayobo area of the state after the heavy downpour of rain.
However, the agency’s team managed to rescue the woman alive after a distress call was made, according to a statement signed by Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Director-General, on Sunday.
As seen in photos made available to Punch Metro, the woman was successfully pulled out of the building before the team administered first aid treatment to her.
He said, “The agency responded to a distress call concerning the above incident.
“Following the heavy downpour of Saturday 9th July 2022, it was discovered that flooding had ravaged the aforementioned area.
“Investigations conducted by the Agency’s response team revealed a female (an elderly sole occupant ), had been trapped in the building.
“A search and rescue operation by the Agency’s response team confirmed the victim to be alive although suffering from a stroke.
Efforts are ongoing to extricate her from the building.
“The Pre-hospital care unit of the agency is administering first aid to the victim before she is transported to the hospital.”
