The Nigeria Immigration Service has temporarily suspended all services at its headquarters in Sauka, Abuja, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
The closure is to facilitate the presidential commissioning of the newly constructed NIS Technology Complex.
In a public notice issued on Monday and signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, the agency clarified that services such as passport issuance and renewals, as well as other related immigration and banking services at the headquarters, would not be available during the day.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that all services at the NIS Headquarters, Sauka, Abuja, will be temporarily unavailable on Tuesday, 10th December, 2024, due to the presidential commissioning of the technology complex in the service headquarters,” the statement read.
The agency advised the public and applicants to plan their visits accordingly and postpone engagements at the headquarters until after the specified date.
It further noted that while physical services would be on hold, the NIS online portal would remain accessible for digital transactions.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary shutdown may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation,” the notice added.
The newly inaugurated NIS Technology Complex is expected to enhance the service’s capacity to deliver more efficient and technologically advanced immigration processes.
