Alleged international Internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi has been scheduled to be sentenced by the United States Central District Court in California.
According to the court, the Nigerian suspect will be sentenced on September 21 for fraud and money laundering charges.
Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2020, and then extradited to the United States. In July 2021, Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to the charges and was ordered to remain in detention pending punishment.
Court documents filed by the United States Department of Justice showed that he was charged with multimillion-dollar fraud by the United States government.
According to Premium Times, Judge Otis Wright postponed Hushpuppi’s sentencing date for the second time.
“At the request of counsel, the Sentencing is CONTINUED to 9/21/2022 at 1:30 PM before Judge Otis D. Wright II, as to Defendant Ramon Olorunwa Abbas,” the court stated.
Hushpuppi risks a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment among other punishments including full restitution if found guilty.
