Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State, following his arrest by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Bobrisky, who was apprehended while attempting to leave the country through the Seme border, spent the night in a police cell at the FCID facility.
According to a reliable source, Bobrisky was taken to the FCID for safekeeping late Monday night after his initial detention by immigration officers.
The source disclosed that further directives regarding his case were being awaited.
“Bobrisky was brought to the FCID, Alagbon, around 10 p.m. on Monday. Immigration arrested him at Seme Border and brought him for safekeeping. He is in detention at the FCID, Alagbon. He was arrested on Sunday, detained overnight, and taken to the FCID, Alagbon, around 10 p.m. on Monday. He is still at the FCID,” the source revealed.
The spokesperson for the FCID in Lagos, Mayegun Aminat, also confirmed Bobrisky’s detention during a conversation with our correspondent on Tuesday.
“He is detained at FCID Alagbon. He is with us, and we are to get a remand to keep him in custody today,” Aminat stated.
Earlier, The PUNCH had reported that Bobrisky was listed as a person of interest by the Nigeria Immigration Service due to recent developments of public concern.
The NIS spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, confirmed the crossdresser’s arrest in a statement released on Monday evening.
“In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country,” Udo said.
He added that Bobrisky was currently undergoing interrogation and would be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders,” Udo concluded.
