Nigerian music icons, Davido and Burna Boy, along with other prominent artists, are set to light up the inaugural Nigeria Premier Football League All-Star Game.
This exciting event is organized in collaboration with Nilayo Sports Management, a leading sports marketing firm in Nigeria.
The All-Star Game will feature an exhilarating football match showcasing top players from both the Northern and Southern regions of the NPFL.
The event promises to be a captivating blend of sports and entertainment, aimed at bringing together fans from across the country.
At a press conference held in Abuja on Monday, NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye emphasized the game’s role in raising awareness and promoting the league.
He reflected on the success of 2023 Super 6 tournament, which saw fans gather at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu to celebrate Nigerian football talents.
“We’re trying to replicate the success we saw last year with the Super 6 tournament, where fans from across the country gathered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, to celebrate Nigerian homegrown soccer stars. It was a huge success, with SuperSport broadcasting the event live,” he noted.
Elegbeleye further explained that the NPFL sought a reputable partner to infuse more glamour into the league, leading to their collaboration with Nilayo Sports Management Ltd., known for its impactful role in promoting sports in Nigeria, under the leadership of Chief Bukola Olopade.
“At the end of the season, we will hold the NPFL All-Star Game, where we’ll select the best players in the league and divide them into two teams representing the Northern and Southern Conferences. It’s going to be an incredible game,” he added.
Highlighting the league’s significance, he stated, “The league is a permanent fixture in the country. While national teams come and go, the league remains constant, and we are committed to elevating it to greater heights.”
In addition to the thrilling match, the event will feature electrifying performances from Davido, Burna Boy, and other renowned artists, further blending sports and entertainment to attract more corporate sponsorships for the league.
A total of 44 players will participate, with 22 players representing each of the Northern and Southern Conferences. Each player will receive an appearance fee of N1 million.
Additionally, celebrity coaches will join the regular coaching staff, with each celebrity coach earning N2 million for their participation.
The NPFL All-Star Game promises to be a landmark event that not only showcases the best of Nigerian football but also elevates the profile of the Nigerian Premier League through the fusion of sports and entertainment.
