Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have arrested three individuals suspected of aiding terrorist activities in Taraba State.
The arrest took place on October 15 in Landey Jessy village, Lau Local Government Area, following intelligence reports of bandits operating in the Kona Range of Mountains, which straddle both Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas.
According to The PUNCH, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, in Jalingo Captain Olubodunde Oni, confirmed the development.
According to Oni, the operation was carried out with precision, leading to the apprehension of the suspects whose identities were not revealed.
“One of the suspects admitted that his residence was used as a storage facility for weapons following operations,” Oni said, adding that a victim of an attempted kidnapping at Iware in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area had identified one of the arrested men.
The suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation.
Oni emphasized the Nigerian Army’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and upholding the nation’s territorial integrity.
“We continue to urge the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies as we work collectively to eliminate terrorism and other security threats,” the statement concluded.
