Controversial Nigerian musician, Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, has declared that he no longer fears anything, following his release from detention days ago.
The singer, who has reportedly been arrested 18 times 17 times in the United States and once in Nigeria made the statement in a viral video, expressing defiance toward fellow artist Burna Boy.
In his words, “Nothing change, na me be still number one. I don’t have a better phone, that’s why I have not been dropping videos.”
Speed Darlington was arrested following a petition by Burna Boy, accusing him of defamation and cyberstalking.
However, in his video, the “BangDadaDang” crooner dismissed any fear of Burna Boy, claiming that his rival had “done his worst” and could do nothing more to harm him.
“There’s nothing my colleague can do to me again; he has done his worst,” Speed Darlington said, maintaining that the public is on his side.
He further accused the police of violating his civil rights by detaining him for four days instead of the legally stipulated two days.
“Police violated my civil right and my human right sef. They denied me the opportunity to speak to my people. Rule say na two days, they kept me for four days without speaking to my people,” he added.
The artist lamented the state of corruption in Nigeria, calling for a complete overhaul of the system. “We need a new country. Corruption is rooted in this country,” he said.
Speed Darlington’s mother, Miss Queen, had previously shared an emotional video on Instagram, alleging that her son was abducted by Burna Boy and his team.
However, it was later confirmed that he was indeed arrested based on Burna Boy’s petition.
Despite the controversy, Speed Darlington affirmed his resolve to continue his career, saying, “I am stronger, I have been in the bottomless pit… I still dey trend.”
