Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI, arrested 40 individuals during a routine monitoring and enforcement operation in Lekki on Wednesday.
The operation, which focused on upholding environmental regulations and ensuring cleanliness in the area, also aimed to reinforce the state’s sanitation laws.
Among those apprehended was a suspected notorious armed robber, further highlighting the broad scope of the operation.
The arrests came as part of ongoing efforts to maintain order and safety in the state, particularly in high-traffic areas like Lekki.
In a statement issued by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, and shared via X account, he confirmed the arrest of the suspected criminal.
“During monitoring and enforcement operation at the early hours of today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) apprehended 40 miscreants at Lekki, including a suspected notorious armed robber.”
The raid underscores the Lagos government’s commitment to addressing both environmental issues and security threats in one of the state’s bustling districts.
