The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, in the Yola South Local Government Area for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.
According to The PUNCH, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, on Monday, confirmed the arrest, detailing the shocking nature of the case.
Investigations revealed that Abubakar subjected the young children to severe abuse after they reportedly urinated and defecated inside the house.
Authorities acted on reports from concerned neighbors who had observed Abubakar’s troubling behavior.
According to them, the woman, who does not have children of her own, had a troubling history of mistreating the toddlers.
She allegedly denied them food and threatened anyone who attempted to intervene in her treatment of them.
Nguroje stated, “Neighbours reported that Fatima, who is childless, had a history of maltreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.”
Following her arrest on Saturday, Abubakar confessed to the allegations against her.
The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has since directed that she be charged in court, emphasizing the need for justice for the vulnerable children involved in this distressing case.
