As part of the events leading up to Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined Muslim faithful for a special Jumat prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.
This was revealed in a statement and video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media.
The statement noted that the prayer session was a key activity in the celebration of Nigeria’s independence, saying, “As part of the activities of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined other Muslim Faithful for a Special Jumat Prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja.”
In the accompanying video, President Tinubu is seen being escorted to his seat at the mosque before the prayer commenced, joining other worshippers in the solemn gathering.
The event is one of several planned to mark Nigeria’s Independence Day, which falls on October 1.
