The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has lost his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa. She passed away on Wednesday night in Sokoto.
Bawa confirmed her death but did not provide further details. “She died in UDUTH Sokoto and will be buried in Jega, Kebbi, inshaAllah around 2:30 pm,” he told reporters.
According to DailyTrust, arrangements are underway to transport her remains to Kebbi State, where the funeral rites will be held on Thursday.
Bawa, who became the first civilian to head the EFCC in February 2021, was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu inJuly 2023.
