The Ogun State Police Command has detained Alex Eziochukwu in connection with the alleged murder of 16-year-old Jamilu Lasisi in the Ibegba area of Sagamu Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred during a football match on Tuesday, led to a tragic turn of events that ended in the teen’s death.
The PUNCH reported that the police apprehended Eziochukwu after receiving a tip-off around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

Witnesses indicated that as the confrontation intensified, Jamilu Lasisi fell unconscious on the football pitch. Despite being rushed to Owokoniran Hospital in GRA Sagamu for medical attention, he was declared dead shortly after arrival.
The confirmation of his death prompted Eziochukwu to flee the scene, prompting police to initiate a manhunt.
Odutola elaborated on the situation, stating, “A phone call was received from one Tobi Olarewaju that his nephew, Jamilu Lasisi, 16 years old, of the same address, was playing football in the area alongside others. In the process, an argument ensued between him and one of the footballers; he fell down unconscious, and he was rushed to Owokoniran Hospital, GRA Sagamu, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.”
Following the initial report on Tuesday, detectives launched an extensive search for the suspect, but their efforts yielded no immediate results until his arrest on Wednesday morning.
