The Osun State Security Network Agency, commonly known as the Amotekun Corps, has apprehended a 50-year-old man, Najeemdeen Shola Bankole Adeyemi, for his alleged involvement in the attempted kidnapping of Rodiat Adenike AbdulRazak, a victim he had met through Facebook.
The arrest occurred during a briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Osogbo, where Osun Amotekun Corps Commander Isaac Omoyele provided details of the incident.
On September 15, 2024, at approximately 2:45 PM, Rodiat reported that Adeyemi, who had traveled from Lagos, lured her to a restaurant under the pretense of visiting her. Once there, he cleverly seized her Android phone and fled the scene.
Omoyele noted, “Upon the receipt of the complaints, Amotekun operatives tracked the suspect down from Lagos to Osogbo where he was arrested while trying to steal another phone from a victim.”
During interrogation, Adeyemi confessed to using deception through a fraudulent Facebook account to trick multiple victims.
Omoyele cautioned young women about the risks of befriending strangers online, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in such interactions.
Following his arrest, Adeyemi is expected to be handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.
In addition to Adeyemi’s case, the Amotekun Corps paraded another suspect, 30-year-old Elizabeth Ako, who was arrested for counterfeiting currency.
Her arrest took place on September 16, 2024, around 9:45 AM, in the Sabo area of Ilesa, where she was attempting to use fake N1,000 notes to purchase goods from unsuspecting vendors.
