Super Falcons midfielder, Ngozi Okobi, has joyfully announced the birth of her child.
The former Elskiltun FC of Sweden player shared the news on Tuesday via her social media, celebrating her new journey into motherhood.
“Congratulations to me. #godbepraised #iamamother #newmom. I am in my new season #NSPPD,” Okobi captioned a series of photos showing her baby bump.
Up until this announcement, Okobi had kept her pregnancy largely private. She had only shared glimpses of her life with fans, mostly through videos from her gym sessions and casual snapshots, with no public mention of her pregnancy.
Okobi tied the knot with her husband, Okeoghene, on December 9, 2017, in a ceremony held in Delta State.
Even after her marriage, she continued her professional career, playing competitively for nearly seven years before welcoming their child.
Throughout her career, Okobi has represented Nigeria in multiple major tournaments. She played in the 2010 U-17 Women’s World Cup, the 2010 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, as well as the 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2022 editions of WAFCON.
Additionally, she featured in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups, showcasing her talents on the global stage.
However, she was left out of Nigeria’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad by former head coach Randy Waldrum and has not been recalled to the national team since her exclusion.
Now embracing her new chapter as a mother, Okobi seems to be in high spirits, looking forward to the future both on and off the pitch.
