Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has called on Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations as a time to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Makinde stressed the significance of spiritual reflection during the festivities and encouraged Muslims to pray for the well-being and continued progress of Nigeria.
“As we celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), I encourage everyone to reflect on his teachings and to pray for our nation’s well-being, peace, and development,” Makinde said.
He also highlighted the need for tolerance and understanding among Nigerians, emphasizing that unity and collective effort are crucial for addressing the country’s current challenges.
The Governor noted that Eid-el-Maulud, observed on the 12th day of the third month in the Islamic calendar, is a significant occasion for Muslims to seek Allah’s guidance for the nation’s state of affairs.
“I congratulate all Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud 2024. This festival is an important opportunity for the Muslim Ummah to glorify Allah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him),” Makinde said.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray fervently for improvements in the state and nation. “While we have greatly appreciated the support and prayers of the Muslim Ummah over the past five years, there is always room for more. Please pray for positive changes in our nation,” he added.
Makinde assured that his administration will continue to implement policies and programs that ensure the well-being of citizens and their freedom to practice their religions without hindrance.
“Happy Eid-el-Maulud,” he concluded.
