Erling Haaland might miss Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash with Brentford at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday due to a personal loss.
The Norwegian striker is grappling with the recent death of a close family friend, which could impact his availability for the game.
Pep Guardiola addressed the situation in his pre-match press conference, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, “It is a tough moment for him and his family. It is sad and we will see tomorrow if he is able mentally or physically to play.”
In more positive news, Guardiola confirmed that both Rodri and Phil Foden have shown significant improvement after returning to training.
Foden, who has been sidelined due to illness, has managed only 45 minutes of action recently, while Rodri had been dealing with a minor injury from international duty.
However, Manchester City will be without Nathan Ake for the next month. The defender sustained a hamstring injury while representing the Netherlands in their 2-2 draw against Germany.
Guardiola lamented Ake’s misfortune, stating, “We are unlucky with Nathan – every time he goes there [to play for Netherlands] he comes back injured.”
