The National Emergency Management Agency, on Thursday, reported the tragic collapse of a two-storey building in Noman’s Land, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano.
The incident, which occurred around 2:00 a.m., resulted in the deaths of two children and left two other individuals injured.
The NEMA Coordinator for the Kano Territorial Office, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi provided details to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Abdullahi said, “The agency received a distress call today at about 2:00 a.m. from a good Samaritan that a two-storey building collapsed at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano.”
He elaborated on the response efforts, stating, “On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene.”
The rescue operation led to the recovery of four individuals, including a husband, wife, and their two children. Sadly, “the two children were confirmed dead, while the couple were rushed to Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment,” Abdullahi added.
The search and rescue efforts continued into the day, with various agencies involved, including the Kano State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and SEMA, all working to locate and assist any other individuals who might be trapped within the wreckage.
