The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, recently provided insight into why the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, from his refinery, appears clearer compared to the petrol currently available in the market.
During a broadcast at the Dangote Refinery situated in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, Dangote explained that the clarity of this new petrol is due to its environmentally friendly properties, which could significantly reduce health risks linked to the use of polluted petroleum products.
Dangote emphasized that this refined petrol would offer superior protection for engines, minimizing the damage that can be caused by the lower-quality, unclear petrol typically sold in the market.
Holding up a sample of the newly refined petrol, he stated, “This is the sample of the petrol. You see it as a different colour but that is the real deal. You are now going to have a good and real product.”
In addition to the petrol, Dangote also discussed the refinery’s production of diesel.
He introduced a sample of Euro-5 diesel, remarking, “I am sure Nigerians have not seen this colour of diesel before.”
He explained that this high-quality diesel contains less than 10 parts per million of sulfur, a significant improvement that would contribute to longer-lasting vehicles, engines, and generators.
Dangote further underscored the importance of these cleaner products, saying, “The health of the people and the environment will not be compromised. This is the real deal.”
The introduction of these refined products from the Dangote Refinery marks a significant milestone, promising not only to improve the quality of fuel available in Nigeria and Africa but also to enhance environmental and public health standards across the continent.
