Tension has gripped the Ajiran community in the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos State, following the assassination of Demola, the first son of Tijani Akinloye, the Ojomu of Ajiran land.
According to The PUNCH, the tragic incident occurred on Monday near Chevron Drive, close to the Ebano Supermarket.
A source who spoke under the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, explained that the attack was carried out by gunmen who not only shot but also butchered Demola.
This brazen killing has sent shockwaves through the community, leading many residents to flee in fear of further violence.
The unsettling atmosphere in Ajiran has prompted the management of a nearby estate to issue a warning to residents.
In a notice obtained by our correspondent, the estate management urged residents to steer clear of Chevron Drive, Agungi, and Ajiran areas for their safety.
The statement from the estate management read, “This is to notify all residents that Ajiran (Agungi) king’s son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebano Supermarket) this morning. We therefore plead to our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron area, Agungi, and Ajiran for now for their safety.”
When approached for comments, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that he was not yet informed about the incident.
However, he assured that he would provide updates as soon as he had more information. “I am not aware, I will contact you once I’m privy to the information,” Hundeyin stated.
