Taofeeq Sokunbi has been appointed as the new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Osun State, according to an official statement from the command.
According to The PUNCH, the appointment was confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi, in a press release issued on Thursday in Osogbo.
Sokunbi succeeds Mr. Inyang Umoh, who has been transferred to Rivers State.
Sokunbi, a seasoned administrator with nearly three decades of experience, joined the FRSC in 1996.
His extensive career includes various roles across the country, notably in the Ogoja and Jigawa Commands.
Ogungbemi called on FRSC personnel in Osun State to extend their full support to the new Sector Commander.
“We urge all personnel to work closely with Commander Sokunbi to achieve our common goals and objectives,” she said.
Prior to this appointment, Sokunbi served as the Staff Zonal Data Centre at Lokoja and Ilorin before his most recent posting to the ABA Information Processing Centre.
His career trajectory is marked by significant contributions to the Corps in various capacities.
Born on July 22, 1970, in Ebute Metta, Lagos State, Sokunbi hails from Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He received his early education at Shiloh Primary School and continued to Vetland Grammar School in Agege, Lagos State.
Sokunbi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, further solidifying his background in administration and communication.
