23-year-old model and law student, Chidinma Adetshina has officially entered the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant after her controversial exit from the Miss South Africa competition.
Adetshina, originally from South Africa, was forced to withdraw from the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant following questions about her citizenship.
The controversy began when South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs launched an investigation into Adetshina’s eligibility, suspecting that her mother might have committed identity fraud to obtain South African citizenship.
Faced with growing scrutiny and in an effort to protect her family’s safety, Adetshina decided to step down from the competition.
Despite this setback, Adetshina’s Nigerian roots were recognized by the Miss Universe Nigeria organization, which extended an invitation for her to compete on behalf of Nigeria.
Expressing her enthusiasm on social media, Adetshina stated, “I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant. I now fully understand the expectations and responsibilities that come with this title, and I’m excited to embark on this journey.”
She also extended her gratitude to the pageant organizers, saying, “Thank you so much for this opportunity. I look forward to being a part of Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant.”
