The Delta State Police Command has reported the arrest of approximately eight individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities causing unrest in the state.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed these arrests in a post on his official X account on Wednesday.
He revealed that of the eight suspects, three were apprehended in connection with kidnapping incidents, while the remaining five were arrested for their involvement in cult activities.
In his post, Edafe noted that one of the suspected kidnappers was killed during a confrontation with police officers.
The statement read, “Three suspected kidnappers were arrested six months after they kidnapped a man and collected a ransom of over #5,000,000. The victim never gave up, he reported to the police and we have been on their trail since then.”
Additionally, the police recovered a revolver pump action gun, two Beretta pistols, and one pump action gun in Ughelli.
The post continued, “One of the suspected kidnappers died during the gun duel, and Five suspected cultists were arrested. The command will continue to look after these criminals and ensure that the state is safe for all.”
