Dangote Refinery has officially denied setting a price for the company’s petrol, refuting claims circulating in the media.
The company clarified that reports suggesting fuel would be sold at N600 per litre are completely unfounded.
In a statement released by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery emphasized that these rumours are baseless.
“Our attention has been drawn to headlines announcing ‘Marketers Project N600/litre for Dangote Petrol’,” the statement read.
The refinery also highlighted that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria is not affiliated with them.
“We would like to clarify that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not our business partner yet. We have never discussed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcripts,” Chiejina stated.
The company further urged the public to disregard such speculative reports, reinforcing that any official communication would be made through their established channels.
“We urge the public to desist from such speculative announcements. We have our official channels through which we make our views known to our stakeholders,” the statement concluded.
The refinery has also been in the news recently due to ongoing tensions with certain government agencies regarding the supply of crude oil.
These tensions, if unresolved, could impact the refinery’s capacity to reduce Nigeria’s dependency on fuel imports.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently intervened, instructing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to sell crude oil to the Dangote Refinery in local currency, in an effort to resolve the ongoing issue.
