The management of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education Kumbotso in Kano State has issued a strong warning to students, cautioning them against any involvement in cultism.
According to The PUNCH, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Yahaya Bunkure, emphasized the institution’s zero-tolerance policy toward unregistered associations during a press briefing on Tuesday.
He stressed that students are prohibited from joining any unregistered groups within the university.
Bunkure made it clear that any student found in violation of this directive would face consequences in line with the university’s regulations.
“We have our code of conduct, which every student, whether male or female, must adhere to, as we do not tolerate examination misconduct or any form of indiscipline.
“For any student to join any club or association, such organisations must be duly registered and in compliance with the codes and conduct of the institution,” he stated.
He also announced that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has allocated 2,000 admission slots to the university for the 2024/2025 academic year.
This represents an increase from the previous year’s intake of 1,740 students.
Bunkure further explained that while the minimum cut-off mark for admission into the university is set at 145, achieving this score does not guarantee admission, as preference will be given to students with higher marks.
“JAMB has set 140 as the minimum score for admission into any university in the country. We are the only university in the whole country that has set 145 as the minimum score for admission,” he noted.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that the university would prioritize admitting students with higher scores, particularly in more competitive subject areas.
Additionally, he mentioned that the institution has awarded a contract worth N370 million for the construction of new lecture halls, staff rooms, and other essential facilities.
Bunkure reiterated the university’s firm stance against cultism and unregistered associations, underlining the institution’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and other immoral activities.
