At least 62,000 primary six pupils across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State on Saturday participated in the 2024 common entrance, placement, examinations for admission into public junior secondary schools.
According to The PUNCH, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, shared this information in Ilorin.
She, along with a team from the ministry, observed the exam process at several centers in Ilorin, Oke-Ero, and Ekiti Local Government Areas.
In a statement from the ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, the commissioner praised the smooth execution of the exam.
She highlighted that the centers she visited were peaceful, and the exam started on time.
Modibbo-Kawu acknowledged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to enhancing the quality of education, noting that the state government sponsored the transition examination from primary to junior secondary school.
“As you can see, everything is hitch-free and going on well. Let me quickly give kudos to the state government and the management and staff of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development involved in the process for doing a great job at ensuring good preparation and seamless exercise. Reports gathered from other centres across the state reinforced that it was satisfactory,” Modibbo-Kawu stated.
She emphasized the government’s commitment to improving learning environments and ensuring that every child has access to quality education.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Rebecca Olanrewaju-Bake, expressed gratitude to the governor for the timely release of funds for the examination and urged teachers to continue supporting the government’s efforts in enhancing the education sector.
Director of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, Mrs. Victoria Adewuyi, praised this year’s examination as one of the best in recent years.
On behalf of the parents, Mrs. Aisha Ahmed commended the state government for providing a conducive environment for the placement exam and for its financial support of the process.
